Earthquake Terror
Today we went over the expectations for answering the questions at the end of a story Below is an example for future refenerce. We are expected to restate the questions when we answer them. We are also expected to use complete sentences. Our answers need to be supported with evidence from the story. The same applies to Social Studies.

Nature's Fury
Good afternoon! We have begun our first theme in reading and it is called Nature's Fury. Check out the videos that we viewed to help introduce the theme to us. Be sure to also access the link to the right to the text book. You are able to read the text book on-line rather than bring home your hardcover text. Thanks for stopping by and look for future updates.

Proper Punctuation
Today in class we learned about our proper punctuation and the efficient definion. We watched a Brain Pop video and then we had a group worksheet. The assignment was to draw the punctuation and define what we use it for. First we defined PERIOD as an end of a declaritive and a imparitive sentence, it is a statement. QUESTION MARK is at the end of an interogative sentence. COMMA are used during a pause or a list with 3 or more items. EXCLAMATION POINT it's to show emotion of exciement and suprise. COLON it introduces something to a sentence. SEMICOLON joins sentences and can replace words. QUOTATION MARKS to show a person's exact words.

Youtube
We had been listening to Mirriam Webster's Word of the Day podcast for the past few weeks. The class enjoyed learning all of these new words. However, they complained that the voice on the podcast was rather "boring" so I had them come up with a suggestion for making it better. Eventually, several students suggested that we do our own Word of the Day. Thus, Ms. Snyder's and Ms. Stappleton's Word of the Day was born. We have even created our own Youtube (yes, Youtube) channel to house all of our work. I hope the classes are excited now about learning new words. Check back often and stay tuned!

Valentine's Day Celebration
Dear Panther Parents,
Monday, February 14th is Valentine’s Day. The students are welcome to bring in Valentines to exchange. If you would like to send in any treats, please feel free to send them in. We will celebrate in our homeroom at the end of the day so you only need to send in enough treats for your child’s homeroom. A class list will be attached to the newsletter this week. Let’s make this last Valentine’s Day in elementary school a memorable one!
Thanks,
Ms. Snyder and Mrs. Schermann

Black History Month Bags
Dear Panther Parents,
Last week, we were assigned a different person to report in honor of Black History Month. We are supposed to find out information about our specific person. We are to then put that information on an index card and place it in the paper bag. On the front of the bag, we are supposed to draw a picture or print a picture of the person we are studying. The back should contain important information including a timeline. This project is due Friday, February 11th. Be sure to work on it this week! No late projects will be accepted!

Grades and Paperwork
Dear Parents,
I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I will be sending home students work as we complete it now rather than waiting for the folders. Tests are usually taken on-line and your child can access their grades for those tests on-line on the site below. You can also expect ELA grades on the Gradebook to be updated by Friday.
